Warning: Severe Rambling Ahead
After tonight's show I have to admit, I had many questions running through my head. Most revolving around the issue of choice. Tonight we heard from various sides of the spectrum, however everything remained rooted in Christianity. I guess what I found perplexing was the argument over good and evil, as someone said tonight it is our choice (our moral decision) whether we have a world of evil or goodness. Then the age old question, who decides what is evil and what is good? Well, that all depends on what you choose to believe. Its a matter of your own interpretation right? For myself, coming from a Judea-Christian upbringing, I have a built in dichotomy because of each of my parents backgrounds - at times trying to form an opinion, I found everything became a little diluted. And I think that is what I grappled with tonight. There are so many ideas/feelings coming from all different sides, each trying to come under one umbrella, each promoting a variant of choice, ultimately who's holding up the umbrella? The same person deciding between good and evil? I don't know. Tonight The Hour did what they do best, brought up the questions and left them out for us to debate and discuss. Fantastic post Allison, good job. As usual, I agree with you. I think tonight's show was extremely thought provoking, and though it could have been all about sacrificing animals and fiery death, I think George (and co.) did a spectacular job of keeping everything on a track with many variations of what "evil" is to each individual, without leaving you feeling like a bunch of religious information was just forced on you. As you can tell, I really enjoyed the show tonight, and again, great post dude!

I think this was one of the Hour's best efforts in terms of a theme-based show.
It was thought-provoking, it covered more than your usual fire-and-brimstone retoric, and, as usual, it was irreverent and sassy.
I particularly liked the interview with the high priest of the Church of Satan. Not only was he personally very funny and compelling, but I think his organization probably speaks to a lot of people, in that it embraces the concept of personal responsibility and empowerment.
Thanks guys! I wasn't sure if I made any sense at all, but it seems that I may have :) I agree Alana, I enjoyed the variations of what evil is to everyone. I really didn't think I'd enjoy the show as much as I did, and you're right, it could have gone the other way too. Barbara, I thought the high priest was the best part of the show too! I think he debunked a lot of myths, and was extremely accepting in what he was voicing you know?

I agree with you guys, the High Priest of the Satanic Church was the best part of the show.
I loved it when he George asked him if the church would like to have Tom Cruise, and he replied, "I think we are okay". :)

The 666 show was one of the best The Hour has done, and expemplified for me the irreverence it's famous for.
I liked the Black Pope, too, but I found that woman Dawn Perlmutter (the expert who investigates satanic crimes) very interesting, and I'm glad she very clearly stated that there are different types of satanism and that the Church of Satan is not the villain.
It was a great show and it's a great post Allison! i like those theme-based show, because you can learn a lot of things and from different perspectives.

An interesting fact you may have missed on the show. The prefix for many Government of Canada phone numbers, at least here in Vancouver, is in fact 666. This includes Canada Post!
