Last week of 2011

This year George will not be doing a New Years Eve Special because his show does not normally play on a weekend. This does not mean this week is not a special 'year end' week of shows. Due to the holiday I won't be posting a complete rundown of this week's shows but you can find that information here.

Happy New Year!

Instead of using his own Strombo mugs to promote the show George has switch it up with World Food Programme plastic red cups as a symbol and a reminder to donate to The Hungry Billion.

Strombo is the guest of Humble and Fred

The team of Humble Howard Glassman and Fred Patterson are know for being morning hosts on the radio and being fired from radio a number of time, but they have risen again, online this time. The irreverent, often crass, sometimes funny duo can be 'liked' on facebook and be heard on humbleandfredradio reminiscing this time with George Stroumboulopoulos. Guests in previous shows include Andy Kim, Jian Ghomeshi, Bill Carroll, Allan Cross and more. All of this can be accessed and enjoyed on their website. The podcast often has adult themes and content so please be warned.

Strombo Court, Vaughan Ontario

The latest news is that there may be a street in Vaughan Ontario soon to be named Strombo CourtThis is not without controversy. Here is the story as reported by YorkRegion.com
 http://www.yorkregion.com/news/article/1258899--street-name-causes-flap-in-vaughan
I for one like the name Strombo Court. I hope they get to keep the name.If you want to write or call Ward 1 Councillor Marilyn Iafrate about the street name here is the contact info. It sounds like a cool street to live on to me.

Tues Nov 29 - 3:30pm - Hunger haunts the Horn of Africa, but World Vision is working to alleviate the suffering. World Vision President Dave Toycen was just in East Africa with Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall. They'll be here to tell us about what they saw, and how you can help; followed by an interview with Canadian laugh-man Ron James.

Thurs Dec 1 - 3:30pm - At 14, Jamie Bell beat 2,000 hopefuls to play Billy Elliot.
