The Strombo Show - July 7th, 2013

Summertime is here and The Strombo Show is here to keep the spirit of radio alive, bringing you this sound philosophy. With George in Los Angeles, Darby joins him through the magic of the internet to explore the soundtrack from the city of angels - talking Queens of the Stone Age, Eazy-E and Beach Boys, among others.

George's conversation with the punk-poet laureate Patti Smith, from George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, is revisited. They dig deep into love, loss and her dynamic body of artistic work.

And as always, we bring the best tracks of the week on the Magnificent Seven, and honour Tom Waits.

Strombo Hosts Canada Day 2013 in London

Thursday July 4

Sex columnist and author Dan Savage will be a guest on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight this coming Thursday July 4 at 7pm EST.

Dan's latest book is called 'American Savage: Insights, Slights, and Fights on Faith, Sex, Love, and Politics' and his interview with George focuses on LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) people's "moral responsibility" to be out.

HIGHLIGHTS: In the interview with George, Dan says that LGBT people must come out publicly with their sexuality in order to help those who are not out realize that they are not alone, and to make people aware that they likely have friends and family members who are gay. He does make an exception in some cases: namely, for young people in risky circumstances. His message to everyone else? "Eat me." As usual, Dan doesn't mince words.
