What's going on this week on The Hour.

Schedule is subject to change... more often then not...

Sunday June 3rd
Will the Strombo Show be live?
My guess would be yes, but who will be hosting it tonight is still based on how fast George gets back from watching The Sens beat
the Ducks last night in Ottawa. Tune in at 9pm to find out.

Monday June 4th
Canadian film Director Guy Maddin will be on . He learned to make movies by watching movies.
Marina Newmat tells her story of imprisonment and survival in Teheran's Notorious Evil Prison.

Tuesday June 5th
The Queen of Paint Debbie Travis will surprise you with her reveal.
American Author Gore Vidal is a screenwriter and novelist and an important contributor to the American culture.

Wednesday June 6th
?

Thursday June 7th
Canadian director Ivan Reitman will be inducted to the Walk of Fame for such classic films such as Animal House, Old School, and Trailer Park Boys...
.
George will let us know if there are any changes to the schedule... right George?

Oh Gore Vidal - interesting fellow. Looking forward to that interview.

I remember seeing some mention that Keri Russel was going to be interviewed. Probably from the Sundance trip. I just saw Waitress. Really liked it. She does not do much press so I am looking to finally see the interview.

Monday looks like an interesting show.

If they are going to interview anyone from the Waitress film (Angie and I just saw it)I wish they would interview Nathan Fillion... mmmmm. I have a thing for Nathan... I would even bake him a pie...

Brooksie said...

Know what you mean about Nathan Fillion. Very compelling screen presence. Check out his MySpace. Interesting blogs.

I am a HUGE Nathan Fillion fan. He is from Edmonton originally I have been reading his Myspace Blogs for a while. He is a really cool cat. Sometimes,I wish that George would blog with the same ferorcity (sp)that Nathan does. But George and Nathan are two totally different people. Waitress is only playing at one theatre here and I have been meaning to go for weeks. If you liked Nathan in Waitress check him out in Slither (another Canadian made flick) or his major claim to fame and cult following Serenity/Firefly...He is utterly amazing in that!

my guess is Wed. will be pre-empted. It's game 5 after all. I'd be very surprised if Mon. isn't too since the game starts at 8.

A few of us have discussed our experiences with our parents' deaths over at the Strombo forum and I was reminded of these discussions as I listened to Marina Nemat speak about how her mother's death affected her. her situation is gravely different than mine but the impact of a parent's death seems to me as nearly universal. Still, it is not something that we speak about very much so I was glad to hear what she had to say.

The rest of her story was incredibly moving and troubling too. Very interesting indeed.

Sorry to interrupt a rather moving discussion ... but ...

But it kind of left a hole in The Hour's Blog ...

It would have been great if people wouldn't have reproduced the interview for their own purposes without the permission of the people who actually made it but I suppose that's really to much to ask for isn't it. It's really too bad that an interview done with nothing but the best intentions can be turned into the stuff or rumour and inuendo. Sad and petty if you ask me.

Steph A. said...

Angie...when I read your comment the following quote popped into my mind. Sorry, I can't remember who said it...it's been a long time since I first read it...

"When ignorance gets started, it knows no bounds".

Keep smiling :)

Allan Sorensen said...

Sadder still, is removing it from the public domain entirely.
At the moment your largest audience gathers to view your creation, is no time to cancel the show.

I'm so proud of you guys and of George for what, together, you achieved in this interview.
It's what The Hour was meant to be all along.
Fearless.
Relevant.
Real.
As George demonstrates by facing every question until there are no more, for now.
A great example of a young-at-heart adult practicing what he preaches.
And of average citizens doing their part to further our understanding of the world and of each other.
Not that there's anything average about Barb, Stephanie and the others who pulled this off.

I loved the Gore Vidal interview as well. A cool conversation. Reminds me that I need to read more of his stuff. The summer reading list grows.

Speaking of quiet...

I enjoyed the Arianna Huffington interview. There was a time that I completely identified with that "fear of speaking out". I was painfully shy until my mid-teens.

While many shy girls/women still exist, I believe that a good balance has been found...parents are raising their daughters differently now...the education system empowers girls early on...society recognizes girls/women are equally as competent as their male counterparts.

I also appreciate Ms. Huffington's mother's belief that failures should be viewed as stepping stones to success:-)

Allan Sorensen said...

You guys are doing a great job of pretending everything is normal, on a day when you've just been mentioned in the National Post.

Allan, I am not one who enjoys riding on the curtails of someone else's misfortune. That is NOT what I am about... and i find it really sad that this work has attracted attention for the wrong reasons.

Unknown said...

Interview had production credits, if someone has corrupted it, there are legal options to force the server hosting it to pull it.

But legal services are not free, thus...

Video is being repaired, sometimes things need an edit, a re-dub, whatever.

Patience is the virtue to uphold for these situations. :P

AAnd Nathan Fillion, yes, great guy, blogs, does things for his fans... he really needs jobs away from the Fox network though ;)

Allan Sorensen said...

I know exactly want you are about revspun, and there's almost nothing you could say that would cause me to stop liking you.
But I would admire you and your friends even more if you were upfront about what took place.
Such as explaining what you refer to as misfortune.
You have me all wrong, but too bad you can't go back to the comments I had created about the interview. Even an innocent comment that I left here this morning was deleted without explanation, as was mine and your earlier posts..
Just what is this blog about, eh?
Hiding the truth seems part of it.
Pretending you don't see what's right in front of you, another.

This episode is a blemish on an otherwise good reputation that you guys were enjoying. And rather than facing it like responsible adults, you are just digging the hole deeper. As is your boy George with every minute that passes without him putting an end to what has left a lot of people scratching their heads, including professional journalists.
So will you please stand up, and clarify who is "someone', and what "misfortune"?

Unknown said...

Allan?

Are you still dwelling? Geeze.

Moving on, please!

Allan Sorensen said...

This is about a story in the paper this morning!
Geez, you "kids" have a short attention span.

Misfortune= Allan and Speculation.

Allan Sorensen said...

Everyone has better things to do on a Friday night than me.
(Maybe I should re-phrase that)

Wish there was an interview with George to watch.

And comment on.
