First show, third season.

I was at the season premier tonight but I was only half there... To get there for this afternoons taping I drove in from Montreal starting out early this morning. I saw George and Bob and Jian and Jeremy and all the crew and friends... The new set was full of backdrops with busy graphics or the name of the show. The set was raised but the audience was not. They ran out of budget for bleachers... We saw what we could see from ground level. The shows format has not changed that much. The music changed, the set changed, and in some small ways George has changed.
You can point out to me what I missed as far as format goes when you watch the show.
I have to say my guests and I enjoyed tonight's show. There was politics with Belinda and a talk about a new film by Monty python's Terry Gilliam and a feature on a career I would not be interested in getting into, cleaning up crime scenes, oh and George defending the goal dressed as a Hab.
George was his usually friendly host self, talking to the audience, before and after the show. His mom was in the audience so he hugged her sweetly and kept his swearing to a minimum . I thought about taking a picture of that hug but I won't cross the privacy line...
I did however, take pictures of the new set.
Oh, and a picture of George taken with my cell phone,
I apologize for the poor quality of the photo.

I was sitting behind Jeremy (the creator of The Hour's website) who is very tall but that's ok he's still my hero! and I could see around him just fine...
I just watched the 11 o'clock showing and I have to say it looks good on second viewing. George and the team have really done a great job as I look at it from both perspectives.

The new layout looks good. I liked that they are using the New Pornos for the theme music, although perhaps that will change from day to day.
Sadly, the times that the show airs, 6 and 11, just don't work for me, so I won't be seeing it very often.

By the way, it was Barbara W who was at the taping; Barbara B was at home cooking supper.

Barb B, that sucks that its not on at 8 for you. I'm so going to foget to watch at 8, and then at 11 its the Daily Show...too many shows to choose from.

I wasn't too fond of the flashy intro.

I LOVE the new graphics, I think they're great. I find the intro music (which BarbB loves) a little odd, but I think I'm just too used to the old music and just need some time to warm up to the changes.

However, I also LOVE the new set, it looks fabulous, and now I won't have to argue with people who thought last year's set was George sitting on a giant red poppy flower. No, stupid! It's a RECORD!

Hahaha, ANYWAYS, I loved the first show, it rocked. I'm looking forward to tonight's show.

Oh, and holy crotch close up at the beginning of the show, as George dressed into the goalie get up. I wasn't mentally prepared for that. :P

*sighs*...*sighs*

so i'm doing an assignment last night (because guess who slacked off) and i think to myself as i watch my clock go 10:59pm...

"i'll just tape it...whatever i'll just tape it"

i go upstairs and set it up to record. and since i'm used to putting it on channel 26 @ 11:00pm (because guess who slacks off in school sometimes) and i press record. not thinking about the main network, i hit Newsworld.

so today i get home all excited, i'm rushing home and hit play... and nothing. that's all i get. nothing. the one show that i can truly watch for one hour that i have been waiting for months ...and nothing. i get news.

i did well on the assignment.but i got no George.

listen to the instructions kids. listen. hear that...instructions.

I think it's also on at 2 am on CBC newsworld... So if you miss it at 8 and 11 or whatever time it plays in your part of the country check again in the wee hours or better yet tape it...

Hi Barb W.

did you estimate how many seats approx. for the in-house audience in the new studio?

I love the new set and the new graphics... it's amazing! And I'm glad that they haven't change the segments, there's still Mile a minute and stuff like that!

I think that it's going to be a good season!

Diane I think about 10 across and maybe 8 rows deep. They can fit more on the right side, about 5 across but there is some obstructed views. The chairs can be shuffled as they need to. But bleachers would be better.

Saw the monday show: hated the new theme song, loved the new graphics, hated the new set, loved the wisecracks against the Leafs, wished George had tried more to break through Belinda's "talking points", but mostly, I'm just freakin' glad Strombo is back.

The U.S. has guys like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher, and they're fun to watch, but there's nothing like the world through a genuine Canadian lens like George.

Now all we have to do is bring back "The One!" (Just kidding)

Not sure if I like the new opening theme song too much also, but set is more interesting--and graphics have morphed to flashy. Second night show less formatted, although enjoyed both interviews first night. The Entertainment News is least fav !

I didn't even know this show was around before tonight, I confess, I watched it for George, lol.
And I'm glad I did, love his style.
I agree on someone's point about having him as the Canadian Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert, it's about time we had our own and from a Canadian (vs. Canadian-bashing) perspective.

Well...after two shows and another in about forty minutes... I have to say...

I hate the new music and set
Love the new graphics and the jokes.

I am finding it all a little like they are trying really hard to make things be funny that are just naturally funny but whatever.

I am so jealous of the taping!!! And I just read no crosscountry tapings which is sad for me, Jas and Barbara B

I was thinking 'I am not so keen on the new theme song' then I realised that was the same song that has been going through my head for the past hour... As a song it's ok but what does it have to do with The Hour? Now that song is back... grrrr
