Best Story Ever!

I want to talk about your Best Stories Ever, but first a reminder that the Strombo show is on tonight.
and...
Coming up on
The Hour this week R & B legend John Legend will be on, as well as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. The interview with Henry Rollins should be interesting from what I've heard.

Do you watch the Best Stories Ever segment on The Hour? You can review them using the link at the top if you want to find your favourite. Have you thought of submitting a Best Story of your own? I will be taping a Best Story Ever of a colleague of mine. She has the best stories ever. I'll let you know how that turns out.

I was asking Paul McGrath, Associate Producer of The Hour, what kind of stories have they received so far from the public.

He tells me they have gotten about 100 stories so far. They range from touching, to bizarre, to raunchy...

A couple of the entries so far are great. They will be putting at least one of them on the air, but they are not sure when.

One challenge is that the viewers write in their stories instead of shoot them with a camera.
That is the reason for some rejection, another reason a video might be rejected is they may be self serving, IE: promoting a political cause or something.

Paul encourages you to submit your Best Story Ever on video.
All the info on how to do that is on
www.cbc.ca/thehour/

If you don't want to do that you can just share it with us in the comment section if you like.

OK I see nobody wants to tell their best story ever... You are probably saving it for the show.

I will tell you one story.
When I was 16, I was in Air Cadets.
The amazing thing about Air Cadets, was not the uniform and not being in a marching band. It was the chance to fly an airplane. A Cessna.
Every couple of months they buses us out to the airfield and took us up in a 4 seater plane. There we were sitting in our green uniforms with our polished black boots ready to take our turn at the co pilots controls.
Oh it was my turn. I was pulling the controls up and pushing them down fast, flying left, flying right and doing zero Gs' It was so much fun. Everyone loved feeling lighter when we would do those zeros Gs.
My turn at the controls had ended and another cadet sitting in the back was ready to switch seats with me for her turn at the controls.
I could not get the seat belt off. It's a pretty complex seat belt and the pilot gets out of his seat to help me with it...

whoooooosh!!
Suddenly all this white powder covers the inside of the plane.
One of our feet, not sure if it was his foot or mine kicked the pin out of the fire extinguisher.
That chemical mess was all over the cockpit, all over my uniform, and I think some went into my astonished, gaping open mouth.

The pilot was quick to assess what happened and put the pin back in place.

I quietly switched seats with the other cadet. I sat in the back with a couple of airsick bags and said "please fly the plane straight".

That's not my Best Story Ever, but it's one I can tell here. ;-)
