"The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is pleased to announce the nominations for the 25th Annual Gemini Awards, recognizing the year’s best in Canadian English-language television. This year’s celebrations will be held in Toronto over three nights in November. The Industry Gala Presentations will take place on Tuesday November 2nd and Wednesday November 3rd at the Kool Haus Entertainment Complex; the Broadcast Gala will take place on Saturday November 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre and will be broadcast live-to-tape on Global and Showcase."

Gemini Awards Tonight


Rehearsals are going on as I write this according to the tweets of Rick Mercer and George Stroumboulopoulos ... and the parties have already started!

The Gemini Awards are Live from Calgary tonight!

Here is a list of presenters for tonight's Broadcast Gala.

Adding to the list of previously announced Gemini presenters, such as Cory Monteith (Glee), (The Rick Mercer Report), Rick MercerHugh Dillon (FlashPoint), Jessica Lucas (Melrose Place), Erin Karpluk (Being Erica), George Stroumboulopoulos (The Hour), Amber Marshall & Graham Wardle (Heartland) and Mark McKinney (Less Than Kind), the Academy is thrilled to announce another round of celebrities presenting at this year’s gala, including Arlene Dickinson and W. Brett Wilson (Dragon’s Den), Brandon Firla and Zaib Shaikh (Little Mosque on the Prairie), Gabrielle Miller (Corner Gas) and Alex Lifeson of Rush.



Not only is George a presenter at the Geminis, he is up for an award against these four men for Best Host or interviewer in a general/human interest or talk program or series.

and the Gemini Award goes to?

Tuesday October 20 th.
Wait! The Gemini Awards are not until November 14th.
You know this because Calgary is hosting and you have your tickets booked for it because you love the hilarious host Ron James and you love Calgary. Total assumptions on my part...

Well there are a couple of industry award nights that are currently happening.
There were some Geminis given out last night Oct 19th for News and Sports /Documentary and lifestyle and there will be some given tonight Oct 20th for Children and Youth/Drama, Variety and Comedy.In the Variety category this night,
The Hour (p. Jennifer Dettman, David Freeman, George Stroumboulopoulos) is up against
The After Show (p. Garrett Wintrip, Pam de Montmorency, Alex Sopinka) and
Steven and Chris (p. Jennifer Dettman, Krista Look, Susan Taylor) This show is coming back in January!
Are all nominated for Best Talk Series.
