Monday on The Hour:

We get to view the last interview June Callwood is planning to make. She chose to talk to George about her impeding death and about her life. It should be an intense and interesting interview.
Many people are looking forward to hearing what Ms. Callwood needs to teach us.

Tim Flannery He is an author and a leading authority on Ecological issues. His book The_Weather_Makers is often quoted by enviromental activist like David Suzuki, who happened to be in the audience for the taping of this interview.
Speaking of Global warming... There is a possibility that Al Gore will be on The Hour again this season.

Thursday, not sure about Thursday yet... I'll get back to you on that. OK today is Thursday and the Scissor Sisters will be on as well as the new CFL commisioner Mark Cohon and George is taking the one who plays George (Craig Lauzon) and Luba Goy of The Royal Canadian Air Farce to the newsstand.


On Friday some of us are going to go see Nile do his stand up routine at Second City 11pm.

If you are in the GTA you may consider coming along.

A taping on a Friday night?

There was a special taping just for one guest.
Mark Wahlberg.

I know you all know who he is and have seen his films... do you all have your opinions of him formed?
I had to catch up. The kind of films he's in are, for the most part, too macho for my taste. I did see Planet of The Apes however... But I can't form an opinion from one film.
So I watched some of his music videos via youtube .. then I said to myself, Not enough info, keep an open mind, and see what he says in an interview.

It's 5:30 on a Friday night and people are lining up to see The Hour.
A large crowd of 90 turned up for the taping. Many of them are CBCers.. I got more compliments in line on my CBC earrings (the ones Karma made)...
I was close to the back of that line but I got a front row seat. Maybe because I was alone... I think it's because I just really looked like I needed a seat up front. ;-)
We were not allowed to take pictures in any case. There were some serious Hollywood stipulations and regulations for this taping. It almost seemed tense. Then George and Mark came out to do the interview.

I kept an open mind and was ready to listen and try to understand who Mark Wahlberg is.
I won't give away what was said in this interview. You will see it on The Hour Monday or Tuesday... But I can say I was impressed by someone I did not fully expect to be impressed by.
Many in the audience were huge fans of Mark and got autographs after the taping. It's so nice that they could have that.
I stuck around after the taping and observed the interactions, then I chatted with George for a bit. That's about when I took pictures I don't currently have the means to upload...

Nothing better than the real thing

The MySpace group of 10 or so met up in the atrium of the CBC building today.
No ACTRA picket lines in sight...
The taping of The Hour was not affected by the strike.

We were sitting at a table and Jian Ghomeshi was walking by....
I got his attention and introductions soon followed.
He is so funny, so sweet and remembered all our names... sort of.
He is my favourite correspondent for The Hour.
There I said it. I have a favourite.

Jian was not scheduled to be on The Hour that night
so we eventually had to let him go on his way. We had a show to get to...
One hosted by our buddy George.

The show was livey this night with three in studio guests.
Jack Layton had a lot of interesting things to say about the environment.
Second time in two months I have seen the man in person.
The Little Mosque on the Prairie intro and interview with Zaib Shaikh were both very funny and I am looking forward to watching the show Tuesday 8:30pm.... doesn't that time compete with The Hour?
Oh well one could watch The Hour at 11, I guess...
The gossip website was getting me kinda jealous because she has thousands readers and well this here little blog ... I guess we just need to sex this one up a bit to stay competitive.

Just kidding. Not big fans of celeb gossip round here.

What can I tell you about that conversation?
That he is very good about talking about music, motorcycles and what interests the audience...
But you knew that already.
We got to participate in that conversation and that is worth the price of admission .

Sunday, Monday, and the rest of the week

For fans and friends of The Hour in the Greater Toronto Area, I have been inviting you to come with us to see The Hour Live, together.
This Monday Jan 8th will be the first MySpacers group get together at The Hour. You don't have to be a MySpacer to join the group. If you have not booked your seats by now, all that is left is standby... I will be there in the atrium of the CBC building gathering the group at 3:45 pm on Monday. You'll know me by the black Press hat and if you know E from myspace she'll will be there too...
We are all going out after for food, drink and fun. We can plan these group get togethers as much as you all want. I'll let you know how this one goes and you can let me know when you want to do the next one.

All I know about next week on The Hour is

Amy Lee, of the band Evanescence will be there.

(I know she is doing her concert on Monday night in Toronto)

and Ron MacLean will be taken to The Newsstand

Dec 6th visit to The Hour

Matthew Fox of Lost was on the set today!
I guess they found him in time to do a Movie Promo for We Are Marshall.













Taking full advantage of living in Toronto, I make a plan to see The Hour once a month.
I love to go to the show with fans of The Hour I have only met online.
Don't try this at home kids.
This time round, I went to the show with "E" and her brother "K".
George was happy to see everyone, and as always, is a most congenial host.

On a dare, and also because it suited the occasion, we were supposed to wear boxers under our low cut jeans... Well it was just me, as it happens. Out on that limb again...
It was worth it!
We had planned other addition mischief but the
proper timing was not available. Believe me, I asked Kevin the stage manager... He is so sweet!
We are scheduled to create that mischief next time we go to The Hour.
CBC approved of course....

My oh so Canadian boxer shorts!







George did have something to say about the boxers.
He said he used to wear them like that on Much Music all the time and no one wrote about it.
My thought 'It's a bit more distracting when you
talking about serious subjects like .... ummm I can't recall now.
See, I was so distracted I can't remember what
you were talking about at the time.

So other than getting on Georges back about the boxers...

I asked George about what The Hour will be presenting between Dec 14 and Jan 2nd seeing as there will be no live audience bookings. His answer is they will be making The Hour sans audience with all the footage and stories and news in the holiday period.

On the closer today, George made some excellent points about the same sex marriage debate.
You have to watch it. If you don't see it on CBC Newsworld or CBC you can always catch it on The Hour's Site.
Now that is a great closer.
