George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight gets renewed for another season!

We were very happy to hear the news that George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight is going to have a tenth season. Can't wait to hear what new ideas George and the team have for next September.

Here is the official announcement

April 3, 2012 – CBC Television, currently in year two of a three-year plan to manage funding cuts, today confirmed a number of new and returning shows for 2013-14, including a brand new season of BATTLE OF THE BLADES, expanded (full) seasons of MURDOCH MYSTERIES and REPUBLIC OF DOYLE, a mini-series based on the award-winning Canadian novel THE BEST LAID PLANS (PDM Entertainment), and a television movie adaptation of THE BOOK OF NEGROES (Conquering Lion Pictures).

“We are very proud that, despite a very challenging financial climate, CBC continues to deliver a television schedule that features strong, proven Canadian programming along with some new made-in-Canada titles,” said Christine Wilson, Executive Director, Content for CBC English Services. “With a lineup that will also feature the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and a full season of Hockey Night In Canada, it is shaping up to be another great year for CBC Television.”

Aw congrats to the GST Team! I was happy to see The Rick Mercer Report was renewed as well!

I wish we could get a full hour of GST back! He just gets into the interview and it's time to move on that silly panel. I miss G reviewing headlines and teaching me about Canada.

Ah well. I keep watching it. ;)

They always come up with new ideas for the new season. I don't know if they will keep the panel. Ali Hassan just got a CBC Radio One gig hosting Laugh Out Loud.
