In an exclusive interview that aired last night, Heritage Minister James Moore sat down with CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos to discuss a variety of topics including the federal budget, Canadian content, arts and culture, and much more.
The interview was taped before a live studio audience, and aired (Tuesday, April 10) at 11:05 p.m. (11:35 p.m. NT) on CBC Television's GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS TONIGHT. The interview will be available in full online at: http://www.cbc.ca/strombo/ videos.html
Here is a clip from the interview:
James responds that it's not as bad as it seems:
"More than half the jobs that are going to be lost at the CBC over the coming years, over half of them were going to be cut even if we didn't touch the budget of the CBC. These were plans that were being made internally at the CBC regardless of the federal budget." The Minister goes on to say that while funding of the arts is crucial, no one should ever feel they are entitled: "cultural organizations also have an obligation to understand that because they've received government funding, they shouldn't always receive government funding."
